Hello. I'm new here. I have been researching for my fiancee whose ex is filing for primary custody of their daughter. I will have him tell the story himself, but will just introduce it.

He has taken care of their daughter since birth. The ex has left them multiple times and has been and emotional rollercoaster. She is a bipolar. Back then, she was NOT MEDICATED. She romped from boyfriend to boyfriend. She cheated on him. She was a mess. So, he took two jobs AND took care of their little girl. Now, the ex lives with the ex's mom, has ANOTHER child from another bf (doesn't know who the father is) and is getting child support from him, does NOT work because she is still "unstable", and is filing for primary custody.

They are in FLORIDA. From what we have heard, Florida is a "mommy state", so my fiancee is worried about losing his girl. I hope he can find support here..

I love him and his daughter so very much, and I am doing as much as I can to help them.

Welcome to the site!!!  I have found this site very helpful.
I was wondering where in FL?  Fl is some what a mommy state, but then again I believe they all are.  (I ask because our whole court thing is in the state of FL and may be able to give you alittle info, if it is Volusia County.)  If the legal systems thought like most of us SMs then there wouldn't be so many problems, ya know?  Anyhow, I don't really have much advice about your situation, I really just wanted to welcome you both to the site and to tell you that  it is a great one.  Lots of people that are willing to try and give you some good advice and information.  And they will be honest.

Here is one of the standard "getting started" lists:

Some of these pages will apply more than others, but they all have valuable information:

One of the first things you'll hear around here is "Document, document, document!". Having good records is *crucial*. Get yourself either the Parenting Time Tracker (PTT) or the OPTIMAL Custody Tracking service at: http://www.parentingtime.net. The PTT is good, but the OPTIMAL service is better.
