file charges against my ex for contributing to the delinquency of a minor?

My 13 year old son was convicted of a violation of probation for removing a weapon from his mother's home.  The knife was stored with a gun in the dresser/bedside table of the master bedroom. The knife was missing for a month before they realized it was missing.

I feel that my ex and her husband is putting my son in harms way with the lack of supervision they provide and the availability in the home of weapons and alcohol.

My son is diagnosed as bipolar and carries a "suicide contract" with him that he has drawn up with his therapist.

I feel that his mother and step father are just as guilty or more so than my son for this violation of his probation.

2. How would I go about filing such charges?

3. What could I expect to see happen if I were able to file these charges?

Contribution to delinquency is an obsolete crime in many jurisdictions. I don't know about yours. You might be able to make a case for reckless endangerment, that is, engaging in reckless behavior that endangers the physical safety of another.

Speak to the District Attorney in the county where the alleged crime took place.

Depends on how good your proof is. If it's good, you might get a prosecution, but I seriously doubt it, unless some third party was actually harmed as a consequency of the mother's behavior.
