Soc,

One would assume that what you wear in Court matters.  I guess one was wrong in my case; my family and I all dressed nicely and the Defendant and her Party all dressed, hmm, let's say casually.

Summer is upon us, and again I'll be standing in the same Court in the month of June.

1.  Is there a basic rule as to jackets/coats with a business outfit (for men)?
2.  Are there some basic guidelines you can share which would allow a Pro Se male to be appropriately dressed in a hot Court in June? (colors, styles, shoes, etc.)

Thank you.

Attorneys are always dressed in suits and ties. Clients should dress for their audience, which in family court, is the judge. If you think it desirable to appear poor, dress poor, etc.

Don't dress "rich" no matter what. No bling bling.

Nugo your so cute.

My dh wears black (highwater) slacks (he cannot afford new ones) and a button down shirt with a tie with black shoes. He gells his hair back, takes off his hat and no earings. lol come to think of it he took his earings out in 5/2002 and never put them back in.

He dresses the best he can with the clothes he has, he is neat, and clean shaven.

Good luck in court.
:)

Thanks Wendl; I've never been called cute before.  I'm 6'5 and sort of rough looking, but hey, I'll take whatever I can get :D  Gotcha Soc; Although I get the feeling that you are suggesting I dress in really tacky clothes, which I still may do, I'm going to go ahead with Khaki pants, black dress shoes, a blue long-sleeve, subdued tie, black belt (thin), and I'll "bring" my black sports coat.

Godspeed.
