Hi Soc...

I don't know if you can answer this for me or not, but here goes...

Is there some place that can tell you whether or not savings bonds have been cashed in? The reason I ask is, my X keeps telling my daughter that I have cashed in several thousands of dollars of savings bonds, and I'd like to prove to her that I haven't.

Thanks once again, in advance.   ;-)

I don't know. Put the ball in the other parent's court -- Tell him/her to prove it or shove it.

KAY

GO TO THE US TREASURY SITE AND A BOND SEARCH CAN BE DONE

http://www.ustreas.gov/
-THEN CLICK ON SAVINGS BOND
-you can track them find out how much their work etc. kind of cool

Or to answer your question see text from site below:
How can I find out the status of my savings bonds to determine whether or not they've been cashed?
If you have the serial numbers, we can look up the status of the securities, assuming they are U.S. Treasury securities. But because of the confidentiality of the records, we must have a signed request by the owner or a co-owner mailed to us (via the postal service) before we can give out information. If the bond owner or both co-owners are deceased, then the person making the request needs to provide proof of the death, such a copy of the death certificate(s). Send the request to: Bureau of the Public Debt, P. O. Box 1328, Parkersburg, WV 26106-1328.

Thanks a bunch.
I'll look into this.

I'm not sure this will help me prove that I have not cashed any in.

But this am, I spoke with a lawyer who informed me that a bank should be able to tell me of any bonds cashed in with an owner of the bonds name. Unless HE has cashed some in......this should prove me innocent ;-)
