Anyone in MI trouble with CS payments?

Hey there,

Say, I have just about had it with the "payments" in ten years time I have not one requested an increase in CS even though I know at that time of the divorce he falsely represented his payrate.
Over the years it has been one thing or another for the lack of rec'ing payment. I dont mean to sound overly greedy or anything either but last year and the previous year were completely rediculus and thats the best word for it. Now I find it hard to believe that a person can go from being ordered to pay $132.33 per week for two children then in May 2004 one week I recieved an order for $143.22. I was like "wow" in 10.5 years time the FOC people must have felt it was time for a "Review". A week later I recieved a new order stating $135. and some cents. Again, I was like well thats a little bit more than the years previous just wonder if it will come from week to week. Then on the holiday weekend of May 2004, I recieved a third child support notice it showed that CS would not be $14.32 cents. Ya know, thats a bit much of a dramatic decrease. I can understand if you were suddenly laid off or in the hospital even but knowing that the ex was putting up a new five bedroom home that summer it surely didnt make sense to me. So I sent off a letter requesting "why might this be occuring".  In late July 2004, I recieved the increase without explanation mind you. They have up'd support to $17.86 per week for two children ages 11 and 14. I really am sick to death of the FOC and its even worse knowing the ex's Aunt works in that department. $17.86 doesnt cover lunch money it will cover the possibly the heat bill but not through the winter months, so I guess I am complaining but I really feel its an honest complaint. A gallon of milk here is $3.86 then again I am comparing apples to oranges when it comes to the Michigan FOC who only takes phone calls on Wednesday and even on Wednesday's the answering machine will come on saying they are all in a meeting and will not be taking phone calls.

Thanks for listening to my rant and sorry in advance for ranting,

if your CS is ordered thru the FOC, they should be automatically reviewing the CS calculation every 3 years on their own.  I know in June-August, they installed a new accounting system and that messed everyone up.

contact the support specialist assigned on your case.  sounds like they have him set up on some sort of seasonal work plan.  it's very strange that you didn't get anything or any notice about the increase/decrease.  maybe aunt does have her fingers in it.

what county are you in?  Here's the link for Oakland County for judges and their team

http://www.co.oakland.mi.us/foc/division_committee/index.html

if you're not in Oakland County, you can do a search on google and find yours or phone FOC and ask them who your support specialist is.  send them a certified letter asking for an explanation.

here's the link to request the records on your case, they'll send you a list of all of the documents and from there you can request copies of the documents.

here's the info to request the payment history on your case

The easiest and quickest way to receive a payment history is by calling the IVR at 248-858-1565 and after entering your ssn, pin and selecting the case for which you need information. You may then choose the "forms" option (3), then choose the option for a payment history (6) on your touch-tone phone. Payment records from the beginning of your case will be mailed to your address of record  within 24 hours. (Subsequent requests for a payment history will begin at the date of your first request).

You can also request the payment history by mailing or faxing a request to FOC. Your request will be processed as quickly as possible.

Hey there,

Thanks for the response. It appears that I was very irritable earlier today. It is especially noticable in the amount of typo's and my lack of correct editing. Sorry about that.

Our divorce is currently held in Mecosta County. I reside in ND and the ex moved to Kalamazoo, MI prior to our divorce. The ex of course refuses to allow the case to be moved even though its at least a two hour drive to the court house one way. The ex's aunt works there so that is more than obvious why he has preference to maintaining the decree in Mecosta County.

The ex is not a seasonal worker nor has he ever been. So that would not be why the major reduction in child support.

No the court has not performed a review in child support. I was told that they would not do one unless I requested it. In order to maintain "peace" it seemed best to shut up over the years. The ex will become behind in child support and they have a hard time getting a show cause date due to back log etc. They will attach a $10.00 amount to the CS and that seems to be about it.

In the last two years they have stated its the "new systems" fault on more than one occasion. I have taken your advice and requested a print out. Did you mean when you said that they would send a print out that it would be the last ten years worth of payments or would it just be for this year?

Thanks much for helping me out on this,

as I said in the other post and since you're out of state, call the support specialist assigned to your case and have a phone consult after you get your history.  explain that you're out of state and talk about your case history and address your questions and concerns.  thank them profusely for helping you over the phone since you're out of state.

don't waste your time with the people who answer the main phone line, they are not support specialists.
