I just saw a commercial that went like this:
>
>
>
> A father is sitting in his chair with the remote
> control, wondering why he can't get channel 99 to
> come up on his television.  His daughter comes into
> the room and explains that that channel has been
> "blocked."  The father is confused, while the
> daughter explains the various ways that one can
> block channels using the remote control, etc.  She
> then tells her father that the channel can be
> "unblocked" but that he'd have to get "permission"
> from Mom.  Mom then walks in the room and he "asks"
> if he can watch channel 99.  She curtly tells him,
> "NO!"
>

> Then there was some blurb about cable television
> with a website at the bottom of the screen:
> http://controlyourtv.org/  I went to this website
> and found the "contact us" icon, which led me to the

Hope this runs in my area so I can see what crap we have going now...

Thanks :)  I've just let the group know, that I see no signs of male-bashing in the commercial. It's downright adorable. Have you complained yet about the Kraft cheese commercial with the smart little girl that shows her father looking perplexed, and saying he totally knew that?

I suppose that's manbashing to you fellas?

The fact of the matter is that we want the media to promote POSTIVE male role models.  Fathers should be shown as intelligent, wise, caring role models and not as ignorant fools. We write these companies to le tthem know that we as consumers do not always approve of the way they portray Fathers because socitey will never take our fight for equal rights seriuosly if the media continues to portray fathers as idiots like in these commercials. May seem like something small Fleeting, but it all adds up after a while.

Perhaps this is not the best forum for her? Just a thought.
