PRESS RELEASE

Thursday 18th March

'Prince's Comments boost Dads Campaign hours before Government Proposals'

The campaign for divorced dads fighting for better access rights to their
kids has today welcomed comments by Prince Charles who spoke out yesterday
about the discrimination against fathers in the divorce courts.

Fathers 4 Justice (F4J) say that the Prince's comments come just hours
before an expected Government announcement about Family Law Reform.

The prince spoke out while chatting to a newly-divorced Navy officer on HMS
Belfast in London. Chief Petty Officer Neil Smith, 42, said: ³He said that
things don¹t seem very fair at the moment ‹ and that things seem to be
weighted towards mothers.²

Divorced dad-of-two Charles¹s comments are seen as a boost for the Fathers 4
Justice campaign.

Said F4J Founder Matt O'Connor 'We warmly welcome the comments by the
world's most famous father. These are the first we understand he has made
about the plight of divorced dads and we hope that this is a huge catalyst
in raising the level of debate in society about the role of fathers and the
crisis in fatherhood.'

'Whilst we don't expect him to don a superhero outfit and climb a bridge, we
do hope that he will continue now to speak out the plight of children denied
access to their dads in the family courts.'

Fathers 4 Justice say they understand a government announcement is expected
either today or tomorrow about the launch of an 'Early Interventions Pilot
Project' and a formal response to 'Making Contact Work', a report on contact
problems between children and their fathers. The group say though that they
do not expect the proposals to offer any comfort to dads.
