I will answer questions if asked.........But my question is how long does the appeal process take/ or should you hear spmething. My friend lost her kids to her ex-in-laws. (Guardianship). She did not have an attorney at that time (Court Oct. 14-Ruling Nov. 3) but does now (appeal filed Nov. 10th).

DH's case was appealed in Feb 02 and it's still not done.

Every state is different with regard to the timelines. However, appeals can take a long time.

In Minnesota, for example, an appeal must be taken within 60 days of an Order.  When the Appeal is filed, a transcript is requested.  The transcript preparation make take 2 weeks or more.

Once the transcript is delivered, the party appealling has thirty days
to submit a bound brief with appendix.

Once the brief is filed, the Responding party has thirty days to supply a counter brief.

Once that brief arrives, the appealing party has ten days to file a rebuttal brief.

Oral arguments are then scheduled 30 to 60 days out.

In short, it can take a very long time in some states.
