Has anyone contacted their state lawmakers on how unjust the system is?  I asking the question to see what type of responses they are giving on child support issues and divorce issues.  If anyone has tak to them please reply.   Thank you!!

Umm geee, no,, I doubt anyone in the last 20 years has had the idea to speak or write or call their lawmakers about divorce/custody/visitation/child support laws being unfair.

Now that I have gotten THAT outa the way. Yes,, many, MANY people do,, almost daily. Join in the fun and you too can get a form email/letter/call from your state representative ;)

Have fun with it!!

I need to know what were their response toward the issue.  Thank You            P.s. I would like to join the fun with a little more insight on how they think.;)

You don't get it. They don't respond to the issue. They send you a form letter thanking you for expressing your concerns & assuring you that they will look into it. If you call, their staffer tells you, essentially, the same thing,. They do not care & can't begin to conceive the extent of the gender bias. They all seem to think it is just a few disgruntled deadbeat dads.

Out here in Kalifornistan, a bill was approved called "The Paternity Justice Act".  AB 2240.  Our former, now recalled disaster of a Governor, Gray Davis vetoed it.  Why?  Gee, we would lose Federal funding.

Now I'm thinking, what the heck do the Feds have to do with men being allowed to take paternity tests when they get slapped with a child support order?  Scroll down through this board, and you'll find a post from Brent with excellent links from the Dept of Health and Human Services.

Anyway, I went to several rallies in support of Tom McClintock with people from the Free Republic website.  I needed an issue that would get people's attention, besides turning a budget surplus into a crushing deficit, and completely screwing up our access to electricity.  I had just read about Davis vetoeing that particular bill, and it pissed me off, so that was my sign.  I was being a tad bit cynical, because I know that there isn't anyone who doesn't know a person who got screwed by this.

I would like to see that bill introduced, with some provisions on how to deal with a parent who deliberately lies about paternity, also a measure to provide reimbursement of money paid out.  Unfortunately, Benedict Arnold is too busy breaking all his campaign promises at the moment.  There is going to come a time when this bill can be reintroduced.

Okay, until enough people stand up and say something, you'll just get a polite form letter thanking you for your interest.  Here's an example of how to make a government offical stand up and take notice.  A couple of years ago, a Florida developer used eminent domain to buy up property for a new development.  One of the homeowners who refused to sell was a Viet Nam vet and his adopted son.  I, and a heck of a lot of people, called, emailed(I just emailed-can't afford to run up my phone bill), wrote just about anyone to save this man's property.  Guess what?  Governor Jeb Bush responded!  The result is that this man and his son were able to save their home and property.  A friend of this man posted his situation on Free Republic, and got tons of support.

Here's another example, from Florida.  Terri Schindler Schiavo.  Her husband, after winning a huge award for malpractice, wants her feeding tube removed so she can starve to death.  Talk about corrupt judges? That money was earmarked for her medical expenses and rehabilition, not lawyer bills.   Not only us, but everyone else from constitutionalist and pro life advocates, bombarded everyone involved to try and save Terri.  I had the nerve to email Laura Bush and ask for her help.  Hey the judge dissed her brother in law!  Governor Bush is tackling this issue aggressively, and we hope that her parents will get custody of their daughter, and begin the therapy that has been denied to her all these years.

Now Free Republic is a mainly conservative, Republican website.  We're trying to roll back big government, but some folks over there have a negative attitude about divorce, child support and custody issues.  Rolling back big brother out of our personal lives should also be a priority.  If you want tips on political activism though, that's the place to go.
