I was just served papers in PA. I don't live ther anymore. I live in CA. What can I do???

MixedBag

does the other half live in PA?

What can you do?

Get smart on your rights by reading the laws and anything you can find on the internet.

Then react.

Don't sit on it, or snooze, you may loose out.

Yup...good advice.  Court where papers filed has jurisdiction....

That's not always the case.  It's where the child resides, not the parents, and it can be affected by how long the child has lived there.

What were the papers for?  Where does the child live, and for how long?

If there are court orders, jurisdiction is where those orders are. And if at least one of the parties still lives there. If neither party lives there anymore, the case can be transferred, usually to the child's state.

If there are no orders, it's where the child has lived for more than 6 months.

OP will have to go to court, or have an attorney appear for him, in PA, assuming mom and child live there.
