please help i'm desparate

I need legal advise as to what action to take and how to go ab out it. I am a father of two lovely boys and me and my ex have split up. I make very low income so I don't know what to do. Things were going fine for a while but now my ex (who lives with the children full time) is using cocaine (I have no proof but I know) and sleeping with multitudes of men some of which are sex offenders. This is not an ex boyfriends  plee for revenge I am truely conserned about  the environment my children are in.  Currently there is no courts involved in this matter but I feel I must do some thing to get my children out of this situation. Can anyone offer me help as to what my first actions should be, where to go, who to contact, what to do...

I dont know what state you live in. If there are no current court orders then it is simple. You pick your children up for some reason. Dont take them back. If there are no court orders neither of you has more rights than the other. Dont let her have the children back under any circumstances. In most states after 6 months you have established their primary residence. Then you can file for custody. You can use a private attorney or the state agency (in Texas it is the attorney general). Check the laws in your state. When you get the children immediately go in for a free consultation with a family law attorney and find out what to do next.
