If I'm sending child support to N.C. What happens If I have a child in NY?

I live in NY.state.  I have recently taken a paternity test which revealed that I am the father of a ten year old boy who lives in N.C.  I'm paying child support at 20%.  My wife wants to have children in NY.  Can my child support payments drop to a reasonable rate?

If/when you have another child you can file for a modification of child support due to change in circumstances (birth of a child). However, I wouldn't hold my breath on this lowering your payments too much. They will give you a "credit" for the child you have in your home but it's not much. If you haven't read the child support guidelines for NC or for NY I suggest you read them.  Although they are "uniform" guidelinesm, they still have State specific guidelines. I also recommend finding a child support calculator and figuring up what your child support would be if you have another child.
