Pro se, worth it, or should I hire a lawyer?

I have a daughter in Indiana( i live in texas) who's mother denies me any contact, even me sending gifts or cards. She send sthem back with nasty letters about her rights as the custodial parent to deny our daughter access to me.
I did plan on pursueing visitation this summer, but I'm concerned about the cost, not just financially but on my current family. Pro se? Or if I go with a lawyer, should I hire a lawyer in Indiana or Texas?

Number your questions, after you state the facts.

I personally wouldn't go pro se, especially in a case that involves 2 states.

You hire an attorney where jurisdiction is, is that Indiana or Texas?

Ignore the letters.

Then pull out your order and see what you're entitled to in terms of seeing your child.  

Hopefully it's already spelled out.

If so, make plans and notify the mom of your plans.  

If not, you'll probably have to go to court to get your time defined.

Pro se or attorney?  How comfortable would you be walking into a court room against an attorney?  For most people the answer is "hire an attorney" although I have to admit that I didn't.

I'm assuming Indiana has jurisdiction.

With that said, unless you are comfortable going against an attrny,, I would hire one. I began my case pro se,, she hired a hotshot trial attrny, and damn near lost my case.
