Child support/ Paternity

 Dear Socrateaser, I am in Oregon and have a 7 & 9 year old that I am paying child support on already. My ex-wife and I have been sperated for about 3 1/2 years. There is another child (almost 3 yrs.) she claimed as mine. I took the paternity test and it came back positive, but the child looks nothing like our first two children. He has very blond hair and blue eyes and his personality,though very sweet-- is different from our 7 & 9 year olds'. The childrens mother has made comments to the effect that she knows the youngest is not my biological son. She also signed my name to the birth certificate. I did sleep with her once at the beginning of our seperation & there is a chance timewise that hes mine. And of course the D.N.A. test said he is as well. But I'm not convinced. My first question is weather you know how often D.N.A tests are wrong. My second question is what could I do about it on a strapped budget. And my third question is did she violate a law by signing the birth certificte?  Any advice appreciated in Oregon.

If you are really concerned about the DNA test being incorrect, then you should pay for an independent test using a different lab that you select.

As for you'r budget issue, I have no suggestion.

On the issue of signing the birth certificate, if you are stating that your ex-wife actually signed your name as if you had signed, that would be a criminal forgery. However, as a practical matter, the DA isn't gonna prosecute your ex wife -- mainly because no one was injured by the action and it's your child, so what's the difference?
