We live in AL but MS has jurisdiction.

My husband is taking his x back to court for the 5th time in three years.  The last time was just May 27 of last year!

Anyway, we had to hire a GAL this time for my stepdaughter.  She had some disturbing things to say about her stepfather.  The question is, how much weight does the GAL's report carry with the court?  My stepdaughter is 12.  She wrote a letter to the GAL and we faxed it to him, per our attorney.  In it she told him that her mother and stepfather advised her that since she is with us every summer on her birthday, they do not have to give her anything for her birthday.  Her bday was June 3, and she has not yet received a call or a card from her mother wishing her a Happy Birthday.  She called her mother to see if she'd say anything, and her mother told her they were "taking a trip to the mountains so she wouldn't be able to reach them for a week".

We go back to court on June 30.  Do you think this is important to the court or just petty stuff?  I don't want to keep faxing stuff and bothering the GAL.

It sounds real crappy, but I don't think there is anything legally you can do about it.

What are you going back for? Will this support what you are filing for?

Poor SD. She will remember this one.

Best wishes

We are going back because we live in AL and the x lives in MS and she is supposed to meet us in Eutaw, AL to exchange the child for visits.  She has not done it even once, and we drive 5 1/2 hours eow (one way) and my husband ends up only seeing his daughter 2 days a month.  Plus she won't let the child call her dad and vice versa, plus she was ordered not to send any more letters, and she has, even nastier than the ones we had from her when we went to court last time.
