DEPROGRAMMING PA CHILDREN LIKE CULT MEMBERS?

Many people may be familiar with deprogramming meetings which occur when family members have a specialist take a loved one that has just joined a cult and over the period of 3-5 days attempt to "de-programme"them.

Does anyone know of any success anyone has ever had trying such a thing with a heavily indoctrinated Parentally Alienated teenager? Or anyone that would have some advice about what to say, how to say it, what order to say it, if you were attempting to try to reason with such a child?

I don't mean what to say over a long period of time, I have the best book in the world to deal with that, but over only a few days.

Would be pleased if you have any suggestions

Buy, read, and re-read "Divorce Poison" -- great start.

Don't think it can happen over a few days.

Thanks, yes, I agree, Divorce Poison is in fact the "best book in the world" that I mentioned for what to say and do over a period of time.

I guess I just wish there was someone who says, yes we can do what you want in a few days,  we have "this amount" percentage success rate and it will cost you "this much"" for airfares and "this many" days work.

It would be great.

What you are asking for does not exist.

In the mid-1990's a church (big $$) filed a lawsuit against the parent(s) that had physically removed their young adult daughter from influence/confines of the church.

The lawsuit resulted in the daughter being returned to the church, official 'Deprogrammers' were outlawed and a recognized group known as Cult Awareness Network (CAN) was forced to be dissolved.

Call be naive if you wish, but I was simply amazed to learn of an entity known as 'Christian Cults' thriving at many state universitys.  It was easier to adapt to an awareness of cults since I had experienced PA and I thought my children could/would be alienated from me EVER ... NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS.

IMHO there is no quick fix for PA.     Operating with authentic love and care over a long period goes a long way to cure PA.
