I quit smoking...but why?

Is the meter he is talking about different than the carbon monoxide detectors you buy at hardware store?  I didn't realize those would detect cigarette smoke.
If they are different would you let me know...before I go out and spend money on one.  And if you don't mind...should I get more than one?  Like for upstairs and down?  I will go this weekend and get one or two or 10 if I have to!!!!! lol

I would also make a copy of the air purifiers statistics  and what they do and what size rooms they cover.
