10-year old boys arrested for drawing 'violent' stick figures

HAS THE WORLD GONE INSANE???? Yes, these boys are horrible violent monsters, no doubt.

You know, I drew lots of crazy stick figures when I was in school and I didn't grow up to be a serial killer or a violent maniac (other than verbally, lol). This just makes me shake my head in wonder. Being a little boy is now apparently AGAINST THE LAW.

Students Arrested Over 'Violent' Stick Figure Drawings
2 Students Charged With Felonies Over Stick Figure Drawings

OCALA, Fla. -- Two boys, ages 9 and 10, were charged with felonies and taken away from school in handcuffs, accused of making violent drawings of stick figures.

The boys were arrested Monday on charges of making a written threat to kill or harm another person, a second-degree felony.

The special education students used pencil and red crayon to draw primitive stick figure scenes on scrap paper that showed a 10-year-old classmate being stabbed and hung, police said.

"The officer found they were drawing these pictures for the sole purpose of intimidating and scaring the victim," said Ocala Police Sgt. Russ Kern.

The boy depicted in the drawings told his teacher, who took the sketches and contacted the school dean, Marty Clifford. Clifford called police, who arrested the boys after consulting with the State Attorney's Office.

They were also suspended from school.

One drawing showed the two boys standing on either side of the other boy and "holding knives pointed through" his body, according to a police report. The figures were identified by written names or initials.

Another drawing showed a stick figure hanging, tears falling from his eyes, with two other stick figures standing below him. Other pieces of scrap paper listed misspelled profanities and the initials of the boy who was allegedly threatened.

Parents of both of the arrested boys said they thought the boys should be punished by the school and families, not the legal system.

Ocala police said they stand behind the decision to arrest the children.

"When an adult or even myself look at the picture looked at it at first I was thinking there is really not much to the picture or I would not be that scared by the picture those children drew," Ocala police spokesman Russ Kearn said. "However, we have to put ourselves in his mind and that's the bottom line here. It is his well-being and the way he perceived that picture to be. It actually put him in extreme fear and he was in fear for his life."

and thought - How utterly and totally ridiculous!

MYSONSDAD

I could understand seeing the boys reprimanded and warned. After school detentions, maybe some good community service around the school yard. I can also understand were the victim may have felt intimidated, but this is the EXTREME.

Apparently, no one in Oscala remembers life as a 9 or 10 year old boy. I think many of us have had "our moments" when we were this age...

My oss drew pictures of his mom dead, pictures of dh and I alive, pictures of my son in an electric chair and a hole file of dead people. It was disturbing to us, but the people in the medical field etc, during the custody trial didn't seem to worry to much about it. Just goes to show how the system works and doesn't work at times.

It needs to be taken seriously.  I wonder if anyone disregarded these child murderers as harmless?

Peanutsdad

Did you actually read any of the stories you posted FM?

They deal primarily with children who were bullied,, not the bullies. What links these stories to two boys drawing stick figures?

Isn't that the truth PD.

HE HE I loved this one:
We ate cupcakes, bread and butter and drank soda
> pop with sugar init,

> OUTSIDE PLAYING!
We would leave home in the morning and play all

> O.K.

My parents wouldn't allow us to be inside, which was fine with me, maybe that is why I am still skinny today, we do a lot of walking, riding bikes with my son etc. I do not allow my son to sit inside all day long.

Don't forget the teachers we also able to disapline kids too not this ok you did this wrong so you must sit in a room alone until your parents come for a meeting with the teacher, instead of giving the child SATURDAY SCHOOL or Weekend or after school detention or writing sentences until your hand hurts. What is that teaching out kids, this is what it taught my son, ok get in trouble right before you are suppose to go to class with the teacher you hate, you know mom or dad cannot make it down as they cannot get off work, so the child gets out of going to this class on purpose.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you actually so ignorant to believe that kids drawing pictures like this need to be arrested? That's the second stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. The original article about arresting these kids was the first.

Get a grip, and try thinking for yoursef sometime. It's not so scary once you get used to it.

NoNicky

Apparently these people have never heard of let alone seen the cartoons at stickdeath.com.  Some of which is really sick but a lot of which if really funny if you have the right mind set.
