Does anyone know if this bill has been passed in washington?  It's Senate bill 5350 and I believe House Bill 2407.

MYSONSDAD

Who sponsored this bill?

It's in Washington State.  This is all I could find.

http://www.leg.wa.gov/wsladm/billinfo1/dspBillSummary.cfm?year=2005&billnumber=5350

This is what it says:

-- 2005 Regular Session --
Jan 21 First reading, referred to Judiciary. (Original Bill) (PDF Version)
Feb 2 Executive session in committee.
Feb 3 JUD - Majority; without recommendation.
And refer to Human Services & Corrections.
Referred to Human Services & Corrections.

No, it hasn't been passed. We haven't been able to get it through the committees to even be voted on.

Senator Kastama, from Puyallup is sponsoring it and has been a real champion for these issues. He is a divorced father. You might want to contact his office and see what you can do to help.

Subject: I support Shared Parental Responsibilities - what can I do to help?

Dear Senator Kastama -

I do not have much money, but I have a big mouth and am willing to use it to get this moving forward. Every child should have the right to be raised by BOTH  parents unless they have been proven unfit or harmful to the children... not held by one and visited by the other.

I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Sincerely,
4honor

Dear [4HONOR]:

SB 5350, providing a presumption of shared parental responsibility after a dissolution of marriage,  was referred to the Senate's Human Services and Corrections Committee and did not receive a hearing, thereby not making it to the floor for a vote at all this year.

I will be re-introducing the bill this next session in the Senate and a companion bill will be introduced into the House of Representatives at the same time.

I will keep your information on file for this next session in January of 2006.

Thank you for your inquiry,

Senator Jim Kastama
