PROMPT?

Maybe during your next round in court, you can get the judge to define "prompt".

Doesn't matter what my opinion or definition would be....what matters is what the judge thinks.

Hi, Now, I am not a doctor...and I have no idea what the Norwegian flu is or why the child would have it so much.

But, I did want to throw this out....My nephew only drank water and milk from infancy on.  He didnt like anything else.  Well, when he was about three he began with bouts of tummy viruses.  He would throw up for 2-3 days at a time.  Doctor would say it was the virus, or sinus and drainage making him ill.  This went on for well over a year.  Every 3-5 weeks he would be sick again...same diagnosis.

One day mom was taking care of him and he was extremely ill...she took him to the docs and DEMANDED something be done.  he was dehydrated and needed to be hospitalized.

After all that time, they discovered that he was lactose intolerance and because he loved dairy products his body had began to have violent reactions to it.  He had to come completely off of dairy and let it get out of his system.  Even then the doc recommended no dairy even with medication.  Only in the past six months has he been getting more dairy in his diet -and he does take pills.  He is 8 years old now.

Thank You very much for the info. Dh and I have talked about the possibility of SS being Lactose Intolerant a few months ago. DH was Lactose Intolerant when he was a child so it wouldnt surprise us if SS was too. One other thing we were kind of thinking about a little is that SS doesnt eat healthy food at his BM's and when we eat it is most generally heathy. We were wondering if your body could react to healthy foods if you werent used to having it? Any body know the answer to this feel free to comment cause we would love some input!!

This is EXACTLY what happens with my SS.

Now the biggest issue with all of this is ......

1) BM refuses to communicate with DH about SS's medical info. (or anything else for that matter)
2) BM doesn't take SS to a "regular" Dr. She takes him to this clinic and that clinic and he sees this Dr and that Dr. (where ever she thinks she wants to take him at any given time.)
3) If DH would call BM and say hey i think maybe he shouldn't have milk cause he may be Lactose Intolerant, she would either try to cause an argument with DH or she would ignore what he says and not do anything about it. Just like when he was to see a specialist during Dh's summer visitation and she just decides to not to let him come during that time because DH told her of the Dr visit and asked her to come too. And she also didnt take him to the appt at all!

What if anything can anyone suggest here.

We are going to court for contempts the end of April.

Did your nephew run a fever when his body was reacting to the dairy product??

Stepmom0418

Dh got ahold of his attorney yesterday and attorney is not very happy. He is calling the Hospital and the Clinic to see if he can get them to comply and said if they will not comply he wants to know why they aren't complying with a CO. Also he said he will supenea (sp?) the records if that is what he has to do.

So we will wait and see what happens next.

From the above page it also gives you a link to the letter that you can send to the Medical office. Dont know if it will help or not but I thought I would post the link for you to check out.

O.K., about the doctor calling mom...

You probably can't stop it...

He was probably just calling to confirm with BM what the latest and greatest was.

I'd be all over him about releasing and telling Dad what's going on.

I read your thread below -- and it's FERPA that says unless there's a court order to the contrary.

Some of dad's rights are gonna be found in the state's codes.  Like in my state, it says that each parent has the right to private conversations with the teachers.  So -- when the teacher TOLD my EX stuff, that stepped over the line.  It also says that I have to be notified within a reasonable time about medical stuff (I am paraphrasing, O.K.), but the word reasonable is used.  SO....yep, what's reasonable?

And I see you filed already and a HEARING is scheduled for April....that's different.  Good luck and go get her!

Here is my state code: DH's CO is in Iowa

IA Code 598.41 Custody of children. 1. e. Unless otherwise ordered by the court in the custody decree, both parents shall have legal access to information concerning the child, including but not limited to medical, educational and law enforcement records.

But in Dh's CO it is very specific. It reads as follows:

c: Notice of Medical/Health Problems: By telephone (or by written correspondence only if the other parent cannot be reached by telephone), each parent shall promptly inform the other parent of any illness of the minor child that requires medical attention. Elective surgery for the minor child shall be performed only after consultation between parents. Emergency sergery necessary to preserve life or to prevent further serious injury or condition may be performed without consultation between parties: however if time allows both parents shall consult or at least be informed of the minor childs condition as soon as possiable.

It also gives additional information under joint legal custody and is VERY specific.

Is 5 days prompt??
BM notified Dh AFTER SS was out of the hospital. He was admitted on Wednesday and Dh found out from Teacher the following Monday.
