The email service will not provide you with information unless it is with a subpoena, and for all points and purposes I doubt they can tell who logged in - even with an IP address, most providers are DHCP and not a static that can be traced to any individual.  The closet you may come is a provider adn if she checked at the local library that is not gonna help you at all.

So change the password on the account, and it is my understanding that you can file anything, the burden of proof will be yours and without it nothing can be done.

I would be a little more worried than you are. Hate to be an alarmist here, but. . . .

I would have a computer technician check my computer over completely. She may have only admitted to what she'd been accused of doing. Ever heard of a keystroke logger? Someone from a remote computer can send this program to any puter of their choice. All keystrokes are logged in a stealth file and sent back to the hacker. There are all kinds of versions of these, but to give you an idea of how just one of these works, check out this link:

Good advice on that as well, however be sure to change your PW to something alpha/numberic - most PW's can be guessed by anyone that knows you somewhat well, ie birthdays, last 4 SS#, kids b day, house number etc.  As many times as I tell my older daughter that, I have been able to guess her pw for the last 5 years on her email, it is now a game, and I win every time!  Seriously, do a good virus scan, make sure all def's are up to date, if you have win XP SP2 make sure that the firewall is on unless you have a good av program that incorporates some kind of firewall and spam blocker etc, if you have DSL or BB a router is a good idea as well.

I believe if she presents the e-mails as evidence then you can ask to have it striken due to the fact that any e-mail can be edited at any time by anyone who is viewing it on the screen. Anything that can be altered without the original authors knowledge in my opinion is worthless evidence.

I would ask socrateaser on this one.

I would also advise trashing this e-mail address altogether and creating a new one. The other poster is right, passwords with caps, numbers and symbols combined make it easier to guess.

She is obsessive in my opinion. Yes, you've been violated. I don't know if you can take that any farther in court or just chalk it up to a lesson learned. Your FH should also think about any other financial or other information he maintains that he had while with her (bank accounts, etc.) and change the access to that information as well. She may be all over the place and you don't even know it. If she is still carrying his last name and ever had any permission to conduct any business for him, I'd send a letter to everyone involved letting them know she is not permitted to access accounts, make changes, or discuss any aspect of his life with anyone. Better to cover your ass than leaving it hanging out for everyone to see.

Nice means she is getting ready to stab you in the back while smiling in your face.

Long time experience with this has proven over and over with everyone I've ever chatted with on this and other sites that when BM is being nice - it's time to worry.

You've got to learn to think ahead of her. I have gotten so good at figuring out what's going on before anyone else it's almost uncanny. The clues are everywhere -  just look for them.

Don't let your guard down for a minute. And keep your money separated from FH.

I hope things work out for the best.

Happy Holidays!

the more I read the more memories it brings back!

Another tip:  you can call certain agencies like credit card or cell phone agencies and ask that a password be put on the account so that you can access info but if someone else calls to get iinfo and doe snto know it then they can not access - I had this done with cell bill, credit cards and bank info.
