Internet Stalking

Okay need some advise on how to handle this.  Am an automotive journalist, I write for a small publication for owners of certian cars.  My ex-wife knows all about my job.  Am published heavly and have my own column in the publication where I respond to my readers, plus a post on several automotive websites.

While this hasn't happen in the past few months I know its going on.  She or her new man will search the internet looking for my posts or my articles, then make reference to them in yahoo profile (which I don't even waste my time looking at anymore).

Case in point, I was sent to Philly to cover a car show as I do each year, they company pays for the airline, hotel, etc and I stay a week to do follow up articles with owners of unique cars.  She tells the judge that these are not business trips but rather vaction and that since I have all this money to go on trips she should get more support.  My employer has told the court they are for business and the judge just over looks it but its getting to be a pain.

She subscribes to the publication, searches the internet for my articles and visits the company website to see what am doing.  Is this a case that even after three years of being finished she can't let go (I have remarried and have a new child on the way... my ex and I have two boys that she does what she can to limit visitation and communication) or what.

How can I stop her from stalking me online?

You can't.

You have a public career and she is entitled to read what you've written and even refer to it - just like any of your 'fans'.

If she posts anything libelous, then you could take action, but even there, the expense might not justify the trouble.

The court understands that you're paid to go places for business, so it's probably not worth fighting about.

I agree, learn to live with it.

My EX#2 and Camilla have killed a bunch of trees printing everything I say here and then they'll bring it to court.

We split in 1996 and it's still going on today.

Unless she is hurting your business and costing you customers and financial damage, learn to let it go.

She's probably very jealous about all that you can and do.

Can you come up with a fake name to write under?

>Can you come up with a fake name to write under?

Most professional writers have established a reputation based on their name (a 'brand image', if you will). If he stops using his own name, then he'll have to start building a reputation all over again. The magazine will be severely inconvenienced by losing a respected name (even if they immediately replace him with a new name writing the same stuff).

Why should he and the magazine suffer? What she's doing is annoying, but it's not hurting anyone. I'd just ignore her.

I talked to the publisher about a name change, I write freelance for another automotive publicaton under a different name (can't have car type A guy writing about car type B LOL)  But they agreed that having my name drop off the publication would just give her more to stirr up and us to try and find a replacment the readers would trust.  Their lawyers just told me to "deal with it!"

Just hard to know that her and her new man tell me to "move on", and I have remarried, etc yet they read my stuff and make comments about it to the kids or online.

So what? It doesn't reflect on you in any way and simply makes her look foolish, vindictive, and/or jealous. She's not hurting you - unless you let it bother you.

I sent you an email, via SPARC regarding publishing in my family owned business.

The only way you can stop her from finding your articles is to have your editors block her IP address if they can. But they would forever be looking into this and they probably won't be willing to search for her everyday.

I would keep all receipts for all your business expenses and make sure you have the documentation from your employer to back everything up.

Eventually this will get old for her and she will find yet another way to annoy you. The best you can do is continue trying to do everything you can to see and have a good relationship with your kids.

The Kids are the only ones that really count and they will eventually grow up and figure her out. Then they will come to you.

Good Luck,
