I need to become affluent in Joint Custody Law.  Such as what was passed in Illinois.  I need to know the arguments used against getting the bill into law.

WHY?

Let me tell you a little about what I'm up to.  Couple of nights ago I had dinner with David Kidd who ran for state rep. here in OHIO.  He did not win but does know the ins and outs of the system.  David has personal contact with many of our OHIO politicians.  He is setting up a meeting/dinner with the current sate rep in our area.  It will be an informal meeting where I will be offering my opinion.  Hopefully he will sponsor our bill.

I am very passionate that children need both parents equally in their lives.  Children are NOT property.  And fathers and mothers are equal in nurturing children.

Can you point me in the direction where I can educate myself on the Joint Custody problems and solutions?  I want to come across as polished and not some kook.

I think you mean Iowa. I do not recall a Joint Custody law passed in Illinois.

Kitty C.

I've got your e-mail addy.  How about I send you all that I've received on the new JC law that went into effect yesterday here in Iowa?  Also, I will pass on a link to a website that includes the letter the president of the Iowa Bar Assoc. sent to the gov., urging him veto it.  This website is aiming at IL now, since I think it is a joint IA/IL father's right site:

I also recommend you have this guy contact Rep. Dan Boddicker, who was the author of this new law:

Included in some of the info are the arguments FOR JC, knocking down the arguments against.  It's a LOT if info and I would have to send it in about 3 e-mails....just let me know!

Thank you Kitty C..  That's what I need.

I'm load'in the cannon now.  Soooooo WATCH OUT!!

Wish we had it in Illinois. There was a posting not too long ago, that Illinois is next. That might have been the confusion.

Let's just hope this law is passed in all 50 States!

One thing to remember, what gives our new law it's true teeth is that Iowa has a LEGAL DEFINITION of BIC, not whatever the judge 'thinks' it is.  Because of that legal definition, the ONLY argument against joint is DV and/or child abuse.  And without proof, it still doesn't hold water.
