This is a cry for help

but when they were scheduled (months in advance) to take my kids on a vacation the week following our separation, I had them sign papers stating that it was pre-planned, they understood that I was not abandoning the children, I was retaining custody and that this was in no way to be interpretted as me giving up the kids (I forget the exact wording).  They were on my side, agreed with me during the course of the divorce but I still had my bases covered in case they jumped ship or in case my ex attempted to use it against me and lie about it.  DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN WITH THE ENEMY!!!  My case was unique in that I strived to keep both sets of grandparents out of it and made sure the kids maintained a relationship with the grandparents as well as the other parent.
