Is Joint custody the same or basicly the same as shared parenting?I've looked up three differnt sites and they gave me differant wordings.
And how hard is it to get the court to agree to a shared parenting plan?
                                Thanks.....

For the state of Ohio, here is the definition of "shared parenting"

"Shared parenting is the term Ohio uses for what is sometimes commonly known as "joint custody." The court may allocate the parental rights and responsibilities for the care of the children to both parents and issue a shared parenting order requiring the parents to share all or some of the aspects of the physical and legal care of the children in accordance with the approved plan for shared parenting. It does not necessarily mean an equal, 50/50 division of time with the children, child support or any other of the issues dealing with the children."

Hope this helps.

Same here....Joint custody is for decisons only not for vistation...You can get joint legal custody (for drs, surgery, school changes or meeting). You can get joint physical custody where you split the visitation. Many people can have joint legal custody and the "normal" every other weekend visit. Hope that helps! :)
